Combine Demo Derby Rules:

MACHINE PREPARATION RULES & REGULATIONS: 

    1. Any size of self-propelled combine is allowed and all equipment is to be original (no reinforced parts or shields) and if the combine is a 4 WD, the 4 WD must be disabled.
    2. Must use a grain table (NO CORN HEADS) in a fixed position at 18″to 24″ above the ground. Remove the hydraulic lift cylinders or weld solid and replace them with stationary supports. You may weld, bolt, and/or use bracing from the feeder house to the head to hold the head on.
        • No more than 36″ from center of feeder.
        • No more than four braces for header.
        • Two underneath, either weld cylinders or remove cylinder and brace.
        • Only one brace on each side of feeder head.
        • Brace can be welded to front of head, back to either side of feeder house or axle.
        • Braces can be no larger than 4″.
    1. Remove the reel and cut back supports.
        • Front of header no farther than knife bar or front of lift cylinder.
        • No points allowed.
        • Steering arm can be put in front of steering axle.
        • Remove the knife, guards, loose sheet metal, unloading auger, cab ladder and the drive belt for the separator.
    1. Remove the glass from the cab and weld or chain the door shut.
      Put some kind of driver protection on the cab at least 36″ high.
      If you do not have a cab, make a roll cage out of something like 2″ pipe to protect the driver.
    2. The fuel tank must be in the grain tank.
      Remove the old fuel tank.
    3. Driver must have a seat belt and helmet.
    4. Each combine must have a number on top of the cab that is visible to officials.
    5. At the start of the derby all tires must be rubber, filled with air only – no duals.
    6. Driver must be 16 years of age or older.
    7. Judges decisions are final.

LAWNMOWER DERBY

Lawnmowers

SPECIFICATIONS:

              1. Any front engine riding lawnmower allowed. (No rear engine riders or zero turns allowed).
              2. All mowers may be belt or shaft driven in the final drive.
              3. No homemade mowers permitted.
              4. All common makes of GAS lawnmower engines may be used. NO engines not originally designed for a lawnmower can be used. NO diesels or engines with more than 2 cylinders.  May be electric or recoil start.
              5. Engines shall not exceed 25-rated factory horsepower.
              6. No sparkplug guards or motor guards allowed.
              7. Pulleys may be changed to your designed gearing.
              8. Leg guards—ALL mowers must be equipped with strong leg guards. They must protect the drivers’ legs and feet at all times.  Leg guards should cover the area by the drivers’ feet.  They should NOT protect the tires in any way.  No limits on the strength of materials, but size requirements are to be within the tires.  CANNOT cover the tires, must be mounted in line with the outsides of the tires.  Must be enclosed, utilizing plate steel or expanded steel.  Leg guards can be connected to the seat guard to provide support.  Foam is recommended on top of leg guards.
              9. Seat guards can be mounted on the rear fenders and/or off the bumper, and can be tied in with the leg guards, but should NOT cover the rear fenders completely. The back seat guard should be fully plated or expanded steel behind the seat.  No height restriction above the seat.  (Roll Bar)
              10. Headers: may make homemade exhaust but it must “generally” point up or down.
              11. All types of factory mufflers may be used.
              12. Bumpers: Front bumpers may only exceed no more that 18” past the grill or hood. May be made of channel, square, round, flat or angle iron and not exceed 4” in size. Top of front bumpers must be placed at frame level, NO taller that the front tires. Rear bumper bracket may be attached all the way up to the leg guards.  Bumpers must be no wider that the inside of all the tires, front and back.  “C” channel or angle iron must be mounted facing the frame with sharp edge toward the machine front and back.
              13. Hood: Must have a minimum of one hold (bolt or chain) down by the steering wheel and a maximum of 4. May weld pipe or threaded rod (1” max) off the frame up to the hood for support.  Hood washer is 4” maximum.  CANNOT connect rod flush with hood for safety. 
              14. Tires: must be from lawnmowers, snow blowers, tillers or small trailer tires. NO car tires.  Tires may be tubes or slimed.  NO foamed or solid tires.

Mid-Size front wheel drive

Mid-Size Rules:

          1. Hoods and Trunks- Can be chained in 4 spots. Trunks must remain in factory position.
          2. Doors- 2 chains per door. Driver’s door may be welded shut.
          3. Bumpers- Any bumper is allowed. May be mounted with 3x3x5 in long tubing into frame.
          4. Frame and Body- No body shaping, wedging, or roof kickers of any kind. No reinforcing or welding anywhere on the frame or body.
          5. Safety Bars- You may have a dash bar and bar behind the seat no farther back than 6″ from rear of seat. No gas tank protectors. May connect dash bar to bar behind the seat with side bars.  Nothing to floor.
          6. Engine and Drive Line- OEM fuel system only (no carbs on fuel injected engines). Stock axles and steering only, no modifications. NO HEADERS!
          7. FRAMES- Frames may be repaired with one 4”x6”x1/4” plate per side.  2 plates max per vehicle.  No other frame repair or welding will be allowed.

General Rules:

          1. If car does not pass tech or driver is unwilling to change car to pass tech, you will stay on the trailer. NO REFUNDS! If rules say you cannot do it, do not do it! Call first with any questions.
          2. All drivers must wear full faced helmets, eye protection, full length pants and shirts and wear seat belts.
          3. All drivers must attend drivers meeting.
          4. Team driving cannot be prevented, therefore it is legal. However holding is not allowed and will result in immediate disqualification.
          1. One fire, helmet falling off and roll over allowed. Second time you will be disqualified.
          2. 60 seconds to make a hit. (NO SANDBAGGING!)
          3. No hitting driver’s door allowed.
          4. NO ALCOHOL BEVERAGES ALLOWED IN THE PITS!
          5. All drivers must be 18 to compete, if under 18 must have a release waiver signed by parent or legal guardian.
          6. Poor sportsmanship or misconduct will result in a disqualification.
          7. All judge’s decisions are final.
          8. All glass, headlights, moldings outside and inside of car must be removed such as gas tank, batteries, etc.
          9. Must have a working seat belt.
          10. Gas tank and battery must be safely mounted inside car and covered.
          11. ROOF SIGNS — all vehicles must have one NO larger then 24”x24” and it CANNOT strengthen the vehicle.
          12. Please build vehicle to these rules only!
          13. Just because it doesn’t say you can’t do it, doesn’t mean you can!
          14. Inspection ends at 6:00 PM, re-inspection ends at 6:30 PM, NO EXCEPTIONS!!

Mighty Minis Rules:

This class is for mini vans, compact trucks, small suvs. 4 and 6 cylinder only NO V8s, No Durango’s or Dakota’s. 4wds are allowed but it must be disengaged.

        1. Refer to General Rules for non-building rules. This class is very stock and intended for low budget fun.
        2. 6 Cylinders or less engines
        3. Vehicle must be left completely factory stock, except as noted below.

BODY No welding, except safety bars and driver’s door may be welded solid. Remove trailer hitches, glass, chrome, plastic, molding, A/C coolant, antifreeze and flammable material from inside and outside of the vehicle. Dash may be left in or may be removed. Hood must have a 12” x 12” minimum hole to easily extinguish engine fires. Doors may be chained, wired or welded with 2” x 4” plates no thicker than ¼ steel in no more than 8 places per door. Only 2 of  the bottom door seam chains or wire may go around frame. Driver’s door may be welded solid for safety. Hoods must be chained or wired in 4 spots. Trunk and tailgate must be chained or wired shut in 4 places or may be welded with 4 pieces max 2” x 4” x ¼”. Battery must be relocated inside of the vehicle, secured and covered. Two batteries max. Pre-bending of the trunk allowed. You may tuck 50% of your trunk. No wedging box sides, NO seadagons.

DRIVE TRAIN Stock gas tank must be removed from original position. (Due to fuel injection system, the original tank may be used.)Tank must be covered and mounted securely in the rear seat area with eye bolts and ratchet straps Use properly rated lines. Gas tank bar is optional. Electronic fuel systems must have visible On/Off switch for fuel pump. No Carbs in midsize, You may crossbreed/swap engines, must use OEM mounts, mounting pads for engine mounts not to exceed a 6”x6” area. Mount may not strengthen frame.  Rear ends must be factory. No slider driveshafts. Transmission shifter may be modified (floor shifters allowed) and ignition may be hot wired. Exhaust headers (stacks) though the hood are allowed. Transmission coolers allowed. No cradles or any other kind of brace you can think of.

CAGE Dash bar is optional, but seat bar is mandatory for driver’s safety. Bars may be connected to each other with door bars. Bars may not extend past the firewall and may not extend rearward beyond the front most part of the wheel tubs. Bars may not tie into the floor. A rear gas tank bar is allowed. Mega Stock SUV’s/vans  follow above rules.  Compact Trucks: Cage must stay in cab. A box cage is allowed to protect your gas tank. May not connect to cab cage. May bolt to box floor 4 locations. May go behind the cab 24”.

SUSPENSION Any tire or wheel can be used.No suspension modifications allowed. No leaf clamps allowed. No duct taping of leaf springs.

BUMPER No bumper alterations allowed.  Must be factory OEM single “C” open back bumper. No extra metal or welding allowed, all plastic molding/covering must be removed. Mega Stock Mini class, no car bumpers allowed.  Bumpers may be chained with (2) 3/8” no longer than 10” and chains cannot be connected to each other. You may also use 1 piece per side of tubing or 6”x6”x1/4” plate to fasten on bumper. Tubing may not extend more than 6” in to frame, plate and tube may be welded. Bumper height must be a minimum of 16” from ground to bottom of bumper.

 

5 Foot Trucks

5 Foot Truck Rules:

          1. Must appear stock from 5 ft.
          2. No body armour besides on the doors.
          3. Driver Safety strongly recommended.
